NEWFOUNDLAND
summer 2015
Covering Canada’s most eastern province
After graduating from journalism school, I spent a summer driving around Newfoundland, collecting audio stories of all kinds for CBC’s Central Newfoundland Morning Show.
A 14-pound lobster (before it was returned to the Atlantic).
Rural reporting
Gander, Newfoundland, is most famously known for its hospitality in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. Here, I reported on its military history (awarding a dog for his service in WWII), the natural wonders (studying whales through social media, a bee keeper claiming his are the heartiest bees in the world), and hospitals using a robot baby to advance care.
